August 4, 2000

The following situation arose on Friday, August 4, 2000...

Unsolicited bulk email was broadcasted from the domain loans24seven.com to a list of 30,000 addresses. Along with the 30k addresses, our autoresponder "freegazette@bizweb2000" was on the email address list. That autoresponder confirms new subscribers to our email newsletter BizWeb eGazette.

When the broadcast was sent, our autoresponder (which was actually on the email list 17 times!) replied to the post and the loans24seven.com listserver sent the autoresponses to every address on the list.

We are in no way affiliated with loans24seven.com and none of the email addresses included in this incident have been added to any subscriber lists at our site.

We do NOT use or condone the use of unsolicited bulk email and we too, are innocent bystanders in this situation. We have received formal apologies from loans24seven.com and their website has been cancelled by their provider. If you wish to pursue this incident further, inquiries should be directed to loans24seven.com. A DNS lookup will reveal the owner of that site.
