Next Generation Autoresponders
By Jim Daniels
I've been a big fan of autoresponders for years.
Actually, I started my internet marketing campaign with just a few autoresponders and some
ezine classifieds. The result was instant success.
That powerful e-marketing formula actually kept me from building a web site for almost a
year! Once I wised up and combined autoresponders with my website, I was able to see the
real power of autoresponders.
Now, a few years later, just when I thought it couldn't get any better, a new generation
of autoresponders has arrived. Today's tip will explain the autoresponder industry, where
it's headed and how your business can benefit from it.
First, I'll bring my newbie subscribers up to date.
What exactly is an autoresponder...?
An autoresponder is a special email address. The address is programmed to instantly
"bounce back" a pre-formatted email reply anytime it receives an incoming
message.
If you would like to see how this works, send any email message to
instantreply@ezbizwebhosting.com and you'll receive a
pre-formatted email message from my hosting service.
Why use Autoresponders...
Autoresponders play an integral role in nearly all effective internet marketing campaigns.
Some examples of how successful companies are using autoresponders are:
=> Automated support messages
=> "Welcome to our newsletter"
=> "Sorry, on vacation" replies
=> "About our company"
=> Advertising information
=> All of your sales letters
=> Free articles on your area of expertise
=> "Welcome to our reseller program"
How YOU use autoresponders is limited only by your imagination.
A few tips when setting up an autoresponder...
In a moment I'll tell you where you can get autoresponders on the web, and even try a
demo. But first I want to touch on one important issue that is overlooked by many
marketers.
No matter who you choose as your autoresponder provider, there are two things to be aware
of before setting one up.
1. When typing your auto-reply, or pre-formatted message, type a maximum of 65 characters
per line. This will ensure that your message looks good no matter what email program the
recipient is using to read it. To do this, simply perform a "hard carriage
return" by pressing 'return' or 'enter' on your keyboard after 65 characters
including spaces.
2. Create your auto-reply message using an ascii based word processer such as Windows
Notepad or Wordpad. Once you're done, paste it into your autoresponder setup form. Doing
this will prevent your message from containing unreadable characters in certain email
programs.
Remember, any autoresponder reply is only as good as the email message itself. If is does
not look professional and well-formatted, it will not be effective. Take care in testing
every autoresponder you set up.
Where to get autoresponders...
There are literally thousands of places to get auto- responders today. Many web hosting
packages, such as the one I use, come with an unlimited supply of autoresponders.
You can also purchase autoresponders on the web. Simply type "autoresponders" at
your favorite search engine and you'll be presented with a myriad of choices.
In addition to paying for autoresponders, there are a number of companies who offer them
for free. The only drawback with free autoresponders is that your message usually contains
an advertisement.
Perhaps you're thinking, "But if I can get autoresponders with a web hosting package,
or for free, why in the world would I want to pay for the service?"
A fair enough question. And a nice segue into to the next section of this tip...
The next generation of autoresponders...
I've recently spent some time researching the autoresponder industry. Let me tell you, it
has come a long way since I started online in 1996.
Today's autoresponders go far beyond simply replying with your pre-formatted email
message. This next generation of autoresponders now do two things that their ancestors
could not.
1. They personalize.
2. The follow up.
How big a deal is this? Very big.
Imagine if you could hire an employee who's only job would be to "instantly"
reply to every lead that came in. This employee would address these potential customers
personally so they felt special. The employee would then personally follow up with them
over the coming days, weeks, and months like clockwork.
Would an employee like that help your online business? You bet! But even if there were
such an employee, since they were on the job 24 hours a day, you'd have to hire them for
pennies an hour!
Well, welcome to the next generation of autoresponders. This is exactly what they do, at
pennies an hour.
Why are these "follow up" autoresponders all the rage online? Simple, they
increase sales. Most experts agree that it often takes a prospect 7 or more exposures of
your ad before they purchase from you. With "standard" autoresponders your
marketing message is only delivered once. If you don't sell your prospect on the first try
then you may never make the sale.
With "new generation autoresponders" your prospects can automatically receive
your personalized marketing message the essential seven times. Pretty slick eh?
If you are interested trying this strategy in your own business, below is a demo for you to try. The only
way to truly comprehend the power of this system is to try it yourself!

(Should you decide to purchase his system I receive a percentage. You can also join
the
reseller plan at that site if you're interested. It is quite innovative.)
So where is the autoresponder industry headed...
If you had asked me a year ago about the future of "autoresponder only"
providers, I may have painted a grim picture. But just when it seemed that the
autoresponder industry as a whole was destined to fade away, new technology and innovation
has revitalized it.
Now, autoresponder providers are introducing new features every few months. I look for
some exciting new tools to appear in the near future. Things such as database integration
and listserver capabilities are already creeping into the forefront.
Perhaps the day will come when I'll be able to load my top 250 regular email replies into
my "super-intellegent autoresponder" and it will search through each message I
receive and reply personally with the appropriate message.
Who knows, maybe in a few years I'll have an autoresponder named Jim2 who does all my work
for me!
