"Bulk Email"

Bulk email. Those two words together can cause quite a stir! Bulk email is a VERY touchy subject!

Basically there are two different kinds of bulk email. The first one is unsolicited bulk email. We'll cut right to the chase on this one. The decision is your own, whether you want to try your hand at unsolicited bulk email or not!

As we write this paragraph, (January 1997) unsolicited bulk email is NOT illegal. It amy however be on the way to becoming illegal. Actually, some stiff penalties have been handed down to spammers recently.

You may have heard this practice of sending unsolicited bulk email referred to as “spamming”. (Yes, the name comes from the famous comedy skit "Spam! Spam! Spam!" by Monty Python.) In the online world, spamming means sending unsolicited email directly to a list of unsuspecting email addresses or newsgroups.

As I said, we won't go into the decision of whether to utilize unsolicited bulk email or not. That decision is yours.

Personally, I prefer a much more powerful and effective form of bulk email on the internet, more appropriately referred to as direct email advertising. Direct email is the practice sending of commercial email to a large number of recipients that have approved of commercial email. There are many companies on the internet offering such services and this form of bulk email can be a very effective internet marketing strategy.

Just why is bulk email so popular? Simple. Traditional bulk mailing strategies and bulk email advertising differ greatly in one major aspect. That aspect is cost. The costs associated with traditional bulk mailing can cut deeply into potential profits immediately. Postage costs alone can break the bank. Direct email does not have this downfall, although when not done properly, it does come with it’s own set of pitfalls.

We would like offer you an opportunity to learn more about the subject of bulk email. If you're interested bulk email, you should preview our new e-book called "Internet Email! Beyond The Basics!"

In "Internet Email! Beyond The Basics" both the positive as well as the negative aspects of bulk email are discussed at length. Not only will you learn how to send email to your lists, you'll learn some of the safer methods of direct email. Additionally, you'll need a little experience with a good email program that allows you to configure and mail to your address lists.
